X PLASTAZ SHOOTING THEIR LATEST VIDEO 'USHANTA' - DAY 1 (CONTINUED) AND 2
Everyone in the film crew is surprised by the beauty of the jungle around lake Duluti. A large fallen tree is a perfect setting for the close-up shots of Gsann's verse and the chorus.
Lesikar gets taken away by the moving story of the Ushanta song, and like a by-sitter he adds his comments in Swahili and Maasai language. As Gsann is trying to concentrate on remembering his lyrics, he asks the cameraman to stop the tape and tells Lesikar to lower his voice. The funny interlude is later included in the final cut.
The second day of recording leads us to the Usambara mountains, a five hour drive from Arusha towards Tanga region. Usambara, an old mountain kingdom, is a beautiful and densely populated area set in abundant green. Not far from its capital Lushoto is a well known spot which overlooks the Maasai planes and the road between Arusha/Moshi and Dar es Salaam.
At the viewpoint we record Ziggy's verse. The rest of the crew is back in Arusha. They can save their breath as the climb up to the viewpoint is pretty steep.
Ziggy is not afraid of heights, but he really needs to watch his step during the shooting of this verse, as behind his back is a depth of over 1000 meters. This day the viewpoint is getting sunshine, but more often it is covered in clouds.
Ziggy's family originates from the area bordering on the Usambara mountains, and from the viewpoint he can peek into his grandmother's house some miles ahead.
On a clear day, vision from the rock reaches as far as Mto wa Mungu, close to Moshi. This is a good backdrop for Ziggy's Bustarhymes inspired skits.
