This section of the X Plastaz website is currently not updated, please check the News page for the latest about the group. In the coming months a new website will be launched.
In September 2004, X Plastaz shot a new video for the album track 'Nini dhambi kwa mwenye dhiki'. The song, which was a big hit on Tanzanian radio Kiss FM (they still play it every day) talks about the fate of the poor, beggars, street children and disabled people. Its video was shot at different locations around Arusha, including a spectacular spot which was never before shown in a music video. The clip was shot and is being edited by Juma4 from Africanhiphop.com / Madunia music, who also does management and promotion for the group, and will be released to Tanzanian television stations before the end of the year. The upcoming compilation of Tanzanian rap 'Bongo flava' features a track by X Plastaz: Dunia Dudumizi. Other artists featured include big names from today's charts such as Juma Nature, Inspekta Haroun, AY and even Mr Ebbo's 'Mimi Maasai' is included. This is the first time for an officially released Tanzanian hip hop compilation to be available internationally!
See www.outhere.de for more info. The compilation Popdeurope 2, put together on the occasion of the annual Popdeurope festival in Berlin, will be out in September. Released in Germany, it features the works of progressive deejays and remixers from all over Europe who have worked with artists from around the globe. The contribution from London's dj team the Shrine (Rita Ray and Max Reinhardt) is a remix of X Plastaz 'Dunia Dudumizi' which has been given a new backdrop of live drumming by legendary Afrobeat drummer Fela Kuti.
